93% of enterprises have a multi-cloud strategy (Flexera 2020 State of the Cloud Report)

A recent Gartner research survey on cloud adoption revealed that more than 80% of respondents using the public cloud were using more than one Cloud Service Provider (CSP)1.More than ever, organizations are launching or expanding multi-cloud strategies as they advance their digital transformations and deal with the new challenges brought by the global health crisis and its impact on business processes. Recent IDG research noted that cloud platforms are playing a key role in helping organizations respond to the crisis, because they provide operational resiliency and needed work-from-home tools.

Cloud providers are regularly introducing new services and upgrades and the market as a whole is highly dynamic. IT and business leaders must be up on the latest changes and make adjustments as needed.

Customers adopt multi-cloud strategies in an attempt to increase agility, minimize vendor lock-in, take advantage of best-in-breed solutions, improve cost efficiencies, and increase flexibility through choice.

But for the software, it is not enough to switch from On Premises to SaS to avoid lock-in situations. Some Vendors can require to use their cloud computing environment and, should you find a cheaper cloud computing resource you would not be free to use it. One software vendor requires its application customers to pay 2X more if they use someone else’s cloud platform. That puts customers into awful lock-in scenarios. Some vendors use AI tools to determine how much locked-in you are to their products and adjust price accordingly. For all these reasons, Omnia Plaftorm and its Apps are independent from the cloud infrastructure. Because the platform is built upon standards, customers have the freedom of choice to start their own cloud journey.

The customers can stay resilient and agile, and are free to change and choose another cloud provider, regardless of the drawbacks and lock in conditions imposed by the vendor.
